Glittery glittery letters... another Christmas Present

Here is another holiday project. A project my hubby helped me with. I asked him for some large oversize letters. He cut them out of MDF board in his tool room and gave them to me for my "tool room" I spray painted them and then used glue to put the glitter on. two coats of glitter and then a clear polyurethane on top. I hope these little girls enjoy their letters we made three and I would say they are about 18 to 20 inches tall. I put hangers on the back for the wall. I did a lot of banging them to get as much glitter off as would fall off before they were wrapped. Yes that is dirt under that board. I try to spray paint outside. Well I hope they love them. thanks to everyone in the forum who helped me decide what glue to use. I used modge podge on two of them and then I used the glitter glue they had at Michael's. Looked and felt the same and I couldn't notice a difference.

Enjoy!

1st of my homemade projects..Collecting Shells with Grandma

I knew I would be busy this week because of the holidays. So I am preposting some items that you may have seen before and because they are gifts I had to wait til after the date for sharing gifts. And they are my holiday homemade projects. My goal this year was to go homemade. To make things for folks. So here is the first project which I finished in July.

This vase was for my Mother In Law and I hope she really enjoyed receiving it. It was the first time I did etching and the verbage says "collecting shells with Grandma". Every morning when on vacation Grandma likes to hit the beach and search for shells. These shells are the ones we picked this year. Some treasured moments and I hope seeing this vase will hold that for her. I, also, added teeny tiny crystals in blue brown and clear to the front to give it some sparkle. That you to Grandma for all those wonderful memories. I think the getting up early to get the "best" shells will be a passed down tradition as my husband loves to do it as well and my son talks about it whenever he thinks about the beach! Wonderful thank you! And I hope she liked her gift.

Tomorrow I shall have another one...

Have a safe rest of the holiday!

Enjoy!

Chris

Cheesy Smiles with Santa

Here is one of the pictures with Santa. I personally think this is the cutest. This is from our trip to the polar express in William Arizona. The Santa was awesome, but we were the first ones in line. Wew! So I took this picture and loaded it to the computer and added the Merry Christmas sentiment to the bottom. Then imported it into word to print labels for the holiday packages. I did these ones tall on a 1.33 x 4 inch label. They came out cute and easy to use for on packages.

Enjoy!

oh yes and the glitter is everywhere...

Allright I was in a glittery mood and you will see why in my holiday gifts next week. ( I can't post them until after I give them ) I saw this done in a few places so thought I would give it a whirl super easy and super pretty. I don't know if I will have time to do many more, but thought since I had the supplies out I would try it. I couldn't think of what to put on the outside. I wanted to do white vinyl. Will have to think on it some more as the holiday nears.

Cool Fiskars tool!!

All right here is a new tool that I love. I bought it at the grocery store in the scrapbook aisle! Yes I Love the grocery store to. My hands ache in the cold and I find it easier to hold fatter items. When I hold my exacto knife at times it causes issues. I just can't manuaver it right. And this little tool is nice. I cut a lot of preglittered stock and I didn't want to hash my mat or my blade so I didn't want to run it max depth and max thickness. So this little knife by fiskars really helped me to manuever quickly those cuts that just needed a little more oomph after I pulled the paper off the mat. It is by Fiskars and fits over the finger. I loved it. And the perk is it will hang on my tool magnet. Love that! I love things to be reachable and not crammed in a drawer.

Please ignore my fat little fingers. I have fat little fingers to match my barney rubble toes. So at least I am balanced. My fingers end up in horse hair, glue, dog hair, kid hair, buttoning jeans, vinyl cutting... I can't do the long nails. I know they would look wonderful, but I just like to get dirty and don't want to worry about getting my nails done. so needless to say my hubby loves them so tis all that matters!!
I love this little tool!
Enjoy!

New Circut software.. make the cut

I emailed with the developer of the Make The Cut! software this morning and he gave me his blessing to start a yahoo group. He and I discussed different tutorials and other things. I know many are trying to work through the program. Here is a link to the group while we wait for yahoo to add it to their directory and we can discuss how it works and it's potential. We all know I am a software addict. So I couldn't resist.

Gingerbread Houses and Teacher Gifts.. so much fun..

Yesterday was so much fun.. first we went to school and I hung out and we made Gingerbread houses. So much fun. I left smelling like frosting even after I had washed hands arms and shirt about 5 times. My son was busy busy with his creation and I had been coach for a few of the kids in his class so I knew them already and got to check out their houses. It was so much fun. We were short on plastic knives so you used the back of spoons. The best part was when I said "I had so much fun I think that was one of my favorite days." My son replied with "It was one of my favorites because you were there" a dramatic pause as I soak it in and how I just love my son, my life.. and then .. "so Mom... wanna talk about Star Wars?" Wew star wars again... Moment is over, but alas it was there. And I am glad he is still excited to have me help in class.

I know some of you are in that last minute crunch for gifts for the teacher. here are two super easy things you can do or have your child do. First off we did our teachers names. I also have a cricut so I wrote the spellings down for my son and had him type it in and cut the letters with a shadow. then I gave them to him with glue and he glued them together. (I used the glue that doesnt dry immediately so I could smoosh them a little straighter when he wasn't looking. Yes I know neurotic nervosa here) Then we let them lay over night because it was bedtime, but the next night I gave him some magi-card snippets which are magnets that have adhesive on them to attach to business cards. We cut ours in to strips and pieces to put on the back of the letters. twas easy to do. The teacher and assistant were so pleased to get them and put them right up on the board at school and the assistant was so excited to take it home and put it on her fridge so her girls could learn to spell their last name.

And the notecards... I cut some white card stock and gave my son a stamp to stamp them as straight as possible. And then I cut some dark card stock to be a mat for the white. When he was done stamping. We used the glue runner to attach the two. I had envelopes in my "collection" of supplies. So I put them together and tied them with the ribbon. The teachers were happy to receive these to.
I had the little bags also in my "collection" which I put the letters in. We put them in white gift bags which my son wrote their names on.
The best parts: My son being crafty with me, his excitement to give something he made, his excitement to see them up on the board, and his being thrilled when the teachers and assistant gave him hugs and said thank you. Just wonderful.
Well I better run.....
Have a wonderful day!
Enjoy!

Calendar Swap my finished sets.

I was going through pictures and wasn't sure if I had posted this. Sandra and Sarah posted a calendar swap in the forum. 2 6x6 layouts for facing pages. Here is mine for March. The shamrock spins per my sons request. I did two sets so I could have some for gifts. I cannot wait to get them and put them together. I am sure I will have a hard time parting with them. But Sandra's comment that she uses the title pages for a scrapbook when the year was over got me to thinking about who could use a predone scrapbook in my life and could just cover the calendar itself with pictures. We shall see who ends up with them. in the meantime. I just can't wait to get them. so thankful for the ladies in the forum hosting the swaps. I will post a picture on Christmas break so the recipient doesn't see it here. woohoo! Enjoy!

Burning off Cookie Frosting Sugar!!

We went to my sister's for cookie decorating on Saturday afternoon. Here is a picture of my kiddo and my cutey niece playing around. I love to hear them giggle. This was before everyone showed up. So cute! Plastic fruit just makes happy kids!!

This is my niece at the end of the cookie decorating. She had quite a bit of frosting in her area of the table.
This is the table full of kiddos.

And my niece had an assistant. My sister's friend who would wipe her finger off after every frosting. She would hold her hands out and get them wiped. Too Funny.

My kiddo is not in to many of these pictures as he decided that after the first few cookies he was going to go "slow" because he was going to Grandma's to decorate next Monday. I think he was pacing himself.
so this weekend... My hubby got told "Dad you got a double eye roll on that" which made me giggle and this morning I was going through the backpack and said what do you do with this? Put your nose through it and it was a rudolph with slits cut in it. So I put my nose through. He kept giggling and rolled his eyes "MOM that's ridiculous put it on the door handle." Oh ahaha. And then we have a new Christmas tree topper which he made in school. It was super cute and he was happy to put it up. I gotta say I am loving the homemade decorations.
We worked on lots of crafts and holiday gifts. I had to get a small propane torch for one. haha.! Yeah! New tools. My hubby picked out it for me. I am sure most men would be like WHAT? Are you kidding? Not my hubby... "You want a small torch to melt some things? Sure no problem. This is your best one probably for what you need. " love my hubby. In fact for one of our first Christmases, I asked for a pocket knife. I still have it and wear it regularly when I am working on stuff. A MUST for Christmas morning. Let me tell you. I showed it to a guy friend of mine when he asked what I was getting for Christmas. he looked at my then boyfriend and said "ARE YOU CRAZY?" haha. I like to think Crazy in Love. pretty fun.
So since we took the time to work on crafts and other things we did alot of finishing decorating and other things. Really just nice. My son and I worked on the gifts for his teacher and assistance. We are giving them this week so I will take pictures and post them this week. It was fun and easy and he did a big part of it.
Well I better run. Have to get a few errands done and a few more files for the QMC> Did I tell you that the Oct-Dec membership will stay open til mid January so everyone can make it through the holiday and not worry about downloads.
We have big news coming up in January at VDBC! Kinda exciting and fun. So don't forget to keep an eye on us!
Also the forum is still running weekly challenges. And this weeks is show your favorite holiday colors. So don't forget to check in and see what you can pick up!
Okay my rambling is done. Have a great Monday! Have a great week!
Enjoy!

Wew! It's Monday! What a great weekend.

Well the weekend was wonderful and today I have spent the morning catching up. I was going to download pictures and post today, but I thought I better catch up first instead of being caught up in my photos. We got to see my Dad and went to the polar express in northern Arizona. There was snow, but I hear there will be today. We did find one little patch on the ground to play in and my little nephew was not to happy his hands were cold. Also, spent lots of time with my sister’s family and my brother’s as will be evidence of pictures over the next few days! Wonderful wonderful but now we are back home working on holiday projects! More tomorrow and if you think I missed you in my followup emails. Don’t hesitate to send me a note again. I deleted all the spam and still had about 400 I thought I should read and/or reply to.  So back to it I go.

But first a note. Today was my sons first ride on the school bus. We made it past the “two week waiting” period and he got off the bus and said WOW Mom that was a long ride and my friend told me about a BUTT BLASTER which is kinda like a scorpion but blows poison out his butt. I just had to giggle. Ahh ha yes honey! Was my response thinking great. One Mom told me the education your child will receive on the bus ride home will far circumvent any at the school. So I just listened and listened as he rambled and then I said.  “so you want to take the bus tomorrow then?” and his comment back.. “NO WAY Mom. They went past the stop and made the ride so long and I cried twice and I just can’t do it again.” Gave me a hug and got in the truck. Haha. Well we will see what tomorrow will bring.  But I am glad my nervousness wasn’t for nothing. Wonder what the other parents will think when I show up at school tomorrow to pick him up? And in all honesty. They can think what they like. I like to go to the school I feel more in touch with what he is doing. His teacher knows me. And I don’t talk about “BUTT BLASTERS” on the way home. Haha.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!!

Enjoy!

Chris

santa claus is coming to town....

Well maybe not Santa Claus yet, but my Dad is. This is the weekend my Dad comes to town from Wisconsin and we have tons of great plans. and I still have tons to do today. last night after my computer was taken hostage by a virus I just decided when we get there today is when we get there. I will work through my to do list and do the most I can. Because I am sooooo excited to see my Dad and miss him so much. so there will be lots more pictures to come. I had my son help me with some crafts for family. He loves to run that Cricut and has even offered to Demo it for us? What do you think? I think he probably will. last night as we were finishing up (beacause i was trying not to pace as my hubby worked on the computer and I guess that can be realllllly annoying) I saw my son sitting on the floor and realized he had commandeered my fiskars small paper trimmer, my sakura glitter gel pen, and my markers for coloring stamps. I just sighed and said "well make sure you put it all back on the table and make sureeeeee you they are closed. these are not things I want to dry out."" OKAY" with a big grin as he continued cutting the paper up into a million pieces and glueing them back into some weird origami shape with colorings on it with MY GLUE GLIDER PRO!!! ahh... I think I will pace... mental note.. ask Santa for scrapping tools for 5 year old. just teasing. I don't mind at all that he uses them I just tend to run out of glue and the likes quicker... much quicker... and as my friend Lori put it .. who knows I may end up with the next Tim Holtz in my household.

Okay I am off to run a 100 plus 1 errands and get back and try to get more programs reloaded on my computer.

Have a wonderful day and if I am missing this weekend. It is because we are spending some time with Grandpa Dale from Wisconsin.

Enjoy!

First at the top of my blog I have pulled up the holiday play list if you have a new favorite song you want me to add to it let me know. It is just a collection of music I like for the holidays. I hope you enjoy listening to it through the holidays. Now for pictures in "no particular order".

Thursday we had Thanksgiving at my in-laws. we got to spend the night there Wednesday night. So we helped out lots and had a wonderful time with everyone. The table was long and filled with lots of great conversation, food, and teasing. Definitely a happy family.

Here is my hubby's beautiful cousin and her son.

Here is the cousin's hubby on the right and my son's Godfather on the left. Of course my kiddo the drum meister is in the middle.
We brought rock band and after dinner plugged it in and all hung out and played. It was lots of fun.
This is some family singing and playing. Smiles all around.

Here are the ladies. That is my MIL in the middle in the turquoise shirt. She is looking great! And ready and raring to go.

This is a shot of our table from one end and then the other. Aunts, Uncles, friends and more.
And the other end.
This is my son's Bobby hat he got from his Uncle JB a month or so go. So many kids grab it and throw it on. It is cute. My son loves to wear it with his star wars trooper gun. I don't ask. I just go with the flow. This guy was just tooo cute!.

And this is my beautiful niece with her NEWWWW (to her) Car. She was just cheesy grin. Was wonderful to see the smile and had to pause for a moment and remember that excitement of freedom and decisions at that age. Cute to see her smile!!

And that is it for now. More pictures to come.
Enjoy!
