Yep. It’s been a bit of a nutzy few weeks. Ups, Downs, lows, highs, curveballs… But most of all lots of time with my son and hubby. So just fantastic.

I have been thinking about our food and trying to reinvent as always and get away from the processed. So I have been reading a lot about raw veggie recipes. I read a huge article about raw vegetables and our needs for them and how some cannot even remember when they ate raw veggies last. So I kept mental note of raw veggies I have eaten. Bountiful Baskets has heirloom tomatoes. I am addicted to tomatoes love them. So gonna have to order some of these.

Also, thinking about my next qmc file. I have a few in the works. Which to pick as next?

And the rodeo is here in town. I love the rodeo. Next weekend should be fun but lots of busy!

And the den leader roll for Scouts is fun fun and busy busy. Tomorrow I will post some of the room decorations from our Blue and Gold. The Wolf Den was in charge so we had lots of fun creating lots of projects!

Free Pizza Printable

This past weekend was Pinewood Derby for our Cub Scouts. We wanted to give each Scout a piece of pizza for participating when they were done.When a Scout checked in they got this little token to turn in for pizza at the end. It worked out really well and it helped us keep an eye on pizza and how much we used up for the Scouts and were extra. Parents were happy to their kids got a little something to munch on after all their efforts.

In case anyone could use it for Scouts or any other project, I wanted to share.
I changed it a bit from ours to give you a little more room to use it for other events.

And here is the cover page of the file below. Included is a pizza with circle words and no circle keyline or with a circle keyline. I cut mine with a 2 inch circle punch after I printed them. However. you could them square to if it makes your life easier. Enjoy!

So in my New Year's Goal vibe. Here is a little sheet I call 30 in 30. I am a big list person. I feel so much better if I can see I accomplished something that day. There are so many little things I would like to do around the house and the studio. So I have this list up on the fridge with little things on it that I want to do. Like I hang new curtains from Christmas. I just keep running out of time to do it. So I am gonna put it on this list. Every time I look at my "Mail Center" I think I need to fix that. I have the ideas. Just not the done part. Every time I look at the junk drawer I think yeah I could just sit down one night and run through it. But by the end of the day. I must admit I don't think straight and can't remember those little things. Like how long have I been thinking about rehanging my grandma's quilt because it looks off centered. It sounds insane and maybe I am the only Mom that gets lost in the to-do's and the interrupted before the Ta-Done part. But just in case here is a file. Both are printable and come in a different color schemes and one is fillable. So you can type it up on the computer.

Menu Monday

Welcome to Monday!!!

I am busy busy. Trying to get a bunch of items under control before I get the call. We have a sick little boy who has been home for the last few days and missed some big events and begged to go to school today. I am hoping it makes it through the day, but am on standby to pick him up. I am working on my menu for food today. We picked up a bountiful basket this past weekend. So gotta make a menu plan.

So here goes.

Monday
Grilled Chicken and Brussel Sprouts. Going to try this recipe. Crunchy Sweet Brussel Sprout Salad.
-Cook extra chicken for Tuesday.

Tuesday
Extra Grilled Chicken and Make Chicken Nachos
-Tortilla Chips, Chicken chunks, Cheese, Salsa, Sour Cream melted together

Wednesday
Grilled Salmon or Steak? (Gotta ask Hubby) And Grilled Cauliflower (We grill cauliflower in tinfoil. First we toss them in a little olive oil. My goal this year is to cut salt completely out of my cooking because we all put salt on our meals. So if I can cut it in one place. It's a start. So I won't be salting it before it grills. ) This menu sounds really good. From Food Network. However, I just don't have all of these ingredients on hand. Although I see grapeseed oil showing up more and more. I wonder what that is like. It seems to be a tossup for olive oil. I will have to look more into it.

Thursday
Busy Night… Leftovers

Friday Night
Freebie Friday. Kiddo gets to make the meal or decide to not cook and have make your own.

So that is my calendar for food. This is a New Year's Goal. Get more on top of our food and using up these awesome bountiful baskets.

We also got pomegranate in our basket. I think just two of them. Does anyone have any interesting ideas for this?

We also got lots of pears. I think I am gonna cook it down into pear sauce. I have one of those cool kitchenaid attachments that will pull the peals out and give you the pear sauce. Or grill pears might be the next option. Think skewer them and maybe drizzle them with a lite sauce for better grilling. I will have to do some seeking on this.

And thank you!! I have received some really positive and happy emails over the weekend. Thank you! I really appreciate when folks take that few seconds to say Hey! Thinking about you. And for some reason when worrying about my little one these positive notes showed up in my emailbox. Just wonderful. Thank you! You made my day.

And now I am off to find some meds. Yep yep. Sharing is caring is the words they say. Personally when it comes to colds. I don't think of caring as sharing.

Sense of ???? what???

My little eye rolling & trying to get my “goat” child…

So we are working on homework. New concept. I am getting a little out of sorts trying to explain .. .and well.. we are finally done. Wew. I think he got it… but …

I started being silly and annoying and…. Buggy .. just a Mom…

My son says in a very dramatic sigh and voice…. “ My Mother has no sense of HUMILIATION!” ( I notice him smiling and looking to see the reaction.)

Seriously? I humiliated him in front of the dogs,the horses? What? There is nothing around us to humiliate him in front of… . So I got up.. put on the tunes as loud as I could. And danced around and air guitared and head banged my long hair. And by the end of it he was on the floor banging away with drum sticks from Rock Band and laughing and thoroughly enjoying….

Oh did I tell you he wants to start a Rock Band. Yeah him and three other friends and he has plans….

OH BUDDY! Wait ‘til you see your Mom’s “sense of humiliation” just you wait !

Love my life. I truly do. Love my life.

Wandering and Wondering Wednesday

Okay folks. My mind is wandering and wondering. My hubby got this little wine sampler set for the holidays. He finished one and threw away the bottle. I saw one sitting there and thought hmm what could I do with it? They are so little and dainty. So I rescued the three remaining. Yes storage ideas for little things comes to mind. But I wonder could I use it for a message in the bottle valentine? Or a treasure hunt something.. or?? Any little ideas? I took a photo with a dry eraser marker so you could better see the size. Oh I just thought of another. Have my son write a note for teacher appreciation week and put it in the bottle with a tag that says... We didn't need a map to know you were the treasure... Hmm something hokey like that which will make my son roll his eyes at me and giggle all at once. Your ideas are welcome please leave me a comment here or in the forum. Resolutions....I have the answer to 1.... woohoo!

Well I have the answer for one Resolution... to get more of my photos scrapped. .. participate in the monthly sketch challenges. I would have at least 12 done this year. and if I can work it for double layouts then 24. I could dream, but I better just do it.

So of course like many of the crafters out there .... we are all trying to keep up on our own projects putting together memories. I really want to get those albums together I am missing. This year I decided my goal was to just not get lost in this year and not get this year done to. We have albums I have done and my son just pours over them page by page. He shows them to visitors. He just loves to see the old pics. So this year my answer is the Sketch Challenges in the forum. Ileana and Lori are running the January Sketch Challenge and Ileana is offering up files for digital scrapbooking and for digital cutter. What couldn't be better for scrapping folks who want to be versatile. So this is my first of my goal. I took photos I posted the other day and put them into a layout using Ileana's file. So here we go! I look forward to having an album to show for this year. and ahhhh.. well I better remember to print it out. If you want to join in... Oh the weekend...Love it

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We were busy busy, but we spent lots of time together so in my world that works. We bowled at a birthday party for a friend's son. D did awesome. He loves to bowl. Worked on the screen porch off the patio of the hobby barn. I am way excited about this. An area to sit during the summer without the horse flys bugging us and Dalen can move and stretch around. Even where he can build his legos maybe and leave them setup for a bit. So thinking about different table ideas etc. Just looking forward to it.

D Adventures.

So today is a day off school. My son has a really sore throat and bad cough. hoping it goes away as he has awesome next weekend plans and I would hate for him to miss it. So he is hanging out and decided since he can't sing to his karaoke cd to play the "drums". He is banging and beating dish lids in his room and comes out and says "MOM? Why didn't I get a drum set for Christmas? I am so good." I smiled, hiding my panic because I have already considering calling the hubby to find out where the ear plugs for the shooting range are, my response was... "because your room doesn't stay clean enough to make the room for it. So when I see that happen we'll talk." Big groan. "Mom I am sick. geesh. you could help me dream about having a set".. .and a way he walked. yes I am a big bad crusher of dreams. or hey .. novel idea... pick up your room. haha. what a silly boy.

Cody Adventures
Cody loves love to fetch things from my son's room. If he can, nerf gun bullets, are the perfect grab. So if the gate is down he will rush in their and snag one and bring it out. So I had left him in the house and run out to the barn real quick. I came back in and here he sits. he looks just perfect. No worries. So pretty I even took a picture. And then I tried to call him over. He wouldn't move. Like he was frozen. I sat and thought then

I said "Cody.... what do you have?"

and this look below is the one I got in response...

HA! Caught him. he was trying to hard to hide it. I had to laugh.

There is the tell a tale orange nerf bullet. So funny he tried to hide it and not move.

And then looked away when I started to talk to him. It still makes me giggle

Did you see the cowbell around his neck. Yeah the stinker took off to the big dog yard and we couldn't find him. So we found him! and then tada. Time for the cowbell. He ran around like a crazy bat whose lost his sonar for about 30 minutes after I added it to his collar. Perfect. Now I can hear where he is while we are outside. He has gotten over it but gets mad and barked at his chest this morning when he was trying to eat and it kept hitting his bowl.

Hubby Adventures ..

It is cold and yuck and football game is on and he is working on the screen porch for me. He is just the bestest. He came in to watch the sad sad Packer's game. his logic after the game was... Hey I rooted for the Packers and they lost. I root for the Vikings and they lost. maybe we should both try rooting for the Vikings next year and they would win.. I smiled... rolled my eyes... and politely said. Lets Grill the BRATS! hahah. ;) love him but his football logic is not workin' for me. I have to many cheeseheads, shirts, hats etc to switch teams and purple is notttt my color. So that means.. most likely on Super Bowl.. we will be riding horse. woohoo! Even better. Love my life!

Cody ... almost 9 weeks

Helllo to Everyone! Here is a Cody update. He is almost 9 weeks old. So I thought I would share some pics.

First this was a beautiful sunset from our house. The mountains looked like cardboard cut outs according to my son.

After school, my cutey patootey comes home and takes Cody outside to play. This was what I caught them doing yesterday afternoon.

You can just imagine the giggling going on during this encounter.

They he noticed me and said MOM!!!!

Hubby had a headache and went to bed I stayed up to watch a little more tv and my buddy Cody decided to crawl up on my lap fall asleep. so snuggly.

And today I am working in the house and he just can't seem to get close enough to me. To cute. Fun to have the company.

Well hope the Puppy Loves of the world enjoyed my Cody posts.

Coffee Mugs - vinyl

Here is another holiday gift. It is hard to show the whole name but the
beautiful hand model is my niece B and her coffee mug I personalized with
her name. (I forgot to take a pic before I gave it to her so she graciously
took one and sent it to me. Yeah! B! Thank you!) I tried to use the highest
tack possible for the mug. But Who knows how long it will last. We shall
see. I am not sold on doing more for the future. It was very hard to put on
the mug so I used Green frog tape on the letters rather then transfer tape
and I also used the Conical Warp in Make the Cut for the First time. I
cheated though and typed out the letters and tweaked them in Illustrator
first. I love my illustrator.

Well just wanted to share. And for those asking. Yes there will be another
QMC it will start in February and it should be a whopper wait til I tell you
the rest woohoo!

**Update ** H&H has the Siser Easy Weed Pack on Sale for the month of January I believe. If you want to try some.

My second HTV project was a gift for Christmas. I used one of the files from my friend Lori. I alterered it slightly so I wouldn't have overlapping Heat Transfer Vinyl Material. My niece is super int Team Jacob. The first one is without rhinestones and the second is with. I got the bag on clearance with a few others for cheap. I love the ease of Heat Transfer Vinyl. I am not sure why I waited so long I loved it and my niece loved it as well. If you want Lori's Team Jacob file she has it in the store here.

I just wanted to share as I downloaded photos today from the camera and the holidays.

First Sewing endeavor...

Okay so I am not a fantastic sewer I would even put myself just below well kinda sewer. I tend to pull it out when I am done looking for something I like that would work for home decor. I can say fabric does not seem cheaper then buying a finished product. so for me it is purely a ... I want this... and don't like that!. haha. I have sewn a cover for a bench, window coverings, pillow coverings and even shown a friend or two how to sew a fancy pillow with fringe. Well in my last "I want this" adventure I was spear headed by my son who wanted camo covering his closet. My son's closet is slightly offsize of a standard set of doors. And it would be a rebuild to use a standard door. I am done looking at the mess of toys. So I decided to buy a shower curtain rod that is brown and some hooks and huge amounts of camo to make the "curtains" for the closet. So we went to the store and looked and looked (Picture of the curtains at another time. Came out quite nice I must say) anyways. my son saw this fabric he just had to have. Very "red baron snoopy-esque" and we brought home a yard of it. after I was done with the curtains. the sewing machine sat on the table with a curiouser and curiouser little boy. So finally he said. can I? I said yep. I sat next to him and worked on some lists and had him run the whole deal in as "straight" a line as possible to make the pillow out of his loved fabric. Which he did and then proclaimed a serious concern... WE SEWED It inside out!!! AGHHHHHH!! Mom Mom. I laughed and said you flip it inside out and stuff it that is why we left a little hole. He stuffed it and helped me sew the little bit more difficult seam to close it and asked when he could go to the fabric store again. Very cute very fun and he thinks it was pretty cool. So yeah! I love it. Had to share. (and yes that is a puppy sleeping underneath it)

Oh and here is a picture of a very cute little terror running through our house. I asked him if he had emptied his food bowl on the floor again and this was the look I got. Ahh yep... he did. totally cute!

A Scout Mom gift

My son and his Dad made this for me. Many Mom’s of a cub scout will know what this is. It is a brag ribbon for your scouts accomplishments and will go on my den leader shirt. When they make it through a level they get a badge and the Mom get’s a pin. Pretty darn cool. I had seen these before and sent my hubby the link and told him it would be the perfect handmade gift for me from our son. So I somehow put the supplies in a cup and left them on my craft table. They painted and worked on it and got it done in between my stints in the craft room. The rhinestones were sitting on the bench from another project I was working on so they got used to. pretty awesome. I love that my husband takes the time to create and help my son create. It definitely helps his imagination bloom and when they are “constructing” things like flying ace guns from the snoopy show it really helps to take parts you have like pvc pipe and sticks and see a bigger picture. And my son knows there isn’t much in my craft room that is off limits so he can create all he would like. It’s pretty fantastic . And I already put the Bobcat pin on it. When I wear my shirt I will have someone take a picture. Love my guys. Love my life.

We believe....

We believe in Family, Friends, Christmas, Faith, Happiness and the spirit of Christmas in the small gestures and the large.... This was so apparent to me at my Sister's Daughter's Pagaent while my Dad was in town. My sister had called me and asked for a present for my son for "Santa" was coming. I was thankful for such a thoughtful sister, but must admit didn't think much more of it.

We attended the cutest Pagaent ever. So many smiling faces of children all under the age of 4. They sang and danced for four sweet songs. Just wonderful. Then Santa came out and and handed out presents. My son as you can see in the picture below got the honor of being the big kid and being in charge of the camera. He was to do his best to get good pics of my niece and nephew. he worked hard at this, but when Santa came out he just paused. He kept taking pics and then Santa called his name and he jumped up and sat on his lap and came back beaming to us with his present.

I smiled at him and said... "Did you get what you wanted?" he said yes... I said" Do you like it?" he says yes all in a gush and rush..." Mom Mom I wished he would call my name to and he Did. he Did. and I got to sit on his lap and he did." And he smiled at me and showed me the wrapper... "And he spelled my Name right!!" a few extra minutes and my sister thought of my son and it made my heart beam and my cheeks hurt from smiling and my eyes wet with tears. The spirit of Christmas in thinking of others. Thank you to my sister. She is a wonderful Aunt. Such a small gesture, but it meant so much to a little boy who I know may not believe in Santa for much longer, but he does right now and he really just wanted to sit on his lap like the other kids and be a part of it. So wonderful! I so love my life. These moments take my breath away.

Merry Christmas to you all from Greg and I and our son.

Day 5: 12 days of Christmas

Hello again! Hope your holiday season is going well. Today is Friday and my Dad flew in last night from Wisconsin. So my siblings and their families are here with us. This year is my year to host the holidays with my Dad and I am sooo excited to have everyone here. I have been thinking about it all week. Trying to get everything ready for the cousins to play together and the adults to hang out and chat. My hubby is the best as he deals with my crazy preparing. As always there were about 100 things on my list to try and get done and I chocked off about 20 of them as this is not gonna happen!. I love to see my family for the holidays. We enjoy eachothers company so much.

So here is a card of inspiration today. .. it comes to you from.. Kelly. This is an older one of my files but I love it what Kelly has done with it. Below the card is Kelly's "recipe" for the card.

Here is a Christmas card I made for the holiday season. The background paper is from my scrap bin (maybe DCWV?). I used a wonderful cut file from Visual Designs by Chris (Poinsettia Happy Holidays - CD00137). All of the non-patterned paper is from The Paper Temptress (from the mica/metallic line - love that paper!). I used my Scor-Pal to score lines in the leaves of the poinsettias. Then I used my i-rock (my new favorite tool) to attach various gems to the centers of the poinsettias. I also added 3 red gems to the lower left corner.

Day 4 : 12 Days of Christmas & Super Deal

Today is Day 4 of the 12 days. I have some inspiration to show you. Don't forget I still have my newest Monogram 11 file set on sale for $3.99 for just a day or so more and also, the quarterly membership club is available also for just a few more days and then closes its doors. Now is a great time to get it.

Here is the card I am showcasing today. This card was created by Angie. I really like this card. It stands out to me so much. It just makes me happy. Here is Angie's Recipe for the card:

A pretty simple card here... Cut #CD00187 in different colors. The background is embossed with a spots and dots folder using my Cuttlebug. I used a border punch by Fiskars along the bottom and backed it with a strip of purple. Pulled the purple into the bling as well.

Day 3: 12 Days of Christmas Creativity

Today is my day on the 12 days of Christmas. I have something fun for you, but first as promised I have another Creative Team Holiday Card. This one is by Angie .... and the file she used was All Wrapped Up With A Bow (There is a special sale going on right now in the holiday section of the store. Did you see? Look for the "Special offer" label, put it in the cart and see your discount)

Here are her words on the card...

I used only the title to create this card but that was enough with the shiny ribbons and paper. I used a Fiskars border punch at the bottom of the card and then backed it with a strip of gold paper. Carried the theme through with the gold ribbons. Added a little red bling to spice it up and fast easy card is created.

Ornament Card and Day 2 of 12 days.

It's my day to be the Card A Day postee. Here are two cards using the same file of mine. and created in different ways. I love the versatility of this file and I love how these ladies always make me shine. The first is by Kelly. Here are a few words on how she created this beautiful card.

I used the Ornament Card Front (CD00625) file from Chris to create this Christmas card. I love this file because there are only 2 cuts to make, one for each layer. And you could just stop there and have a beautiful card. I decided to add some extra details to mine. The background was embossed with the Large Snowflake Cuttlebug folder. I used a gold paint marker to add pen stitching around the outside and to color the tops of each ornament. Using my i-rock, I attached some red, green and gold gems to one of the ornaments. I added green, red and gold Stickles to a couple of the other ornaments. I also added a clear rhinestone that I colored with the gold paint marker to the other ornament. I just love all the sparkle!

And this version below is from Angie. and her notes on the card and how she created it.

What a fun card! I used #CD00625 cut from red and green cardstock. I used the ornament topper from #CD00627 cut from gold. I cut the ribbon and string off of the topper and mounted over the red. I used a gold leaf pen to add some dimension to the strings. I decorated the ornaments using punches: holly from fiskars and snowflake from Emaginations. One of the holly leaves was punched from the green paper that was clear embossed to make it a little dark to create some shading. Added some purple bling and tiny red bling for the holly berries. I pop dotted the snowflake. Added some green ribbon and stamped the greeting (unknown/unmounted stamp) using white Staz-on.

Wow just fantastic. I love to see these cards created with my files. It is like Christmas.

Sooo much is going on in our home. How about yours? We are workin away on so many projects.

I am test cutting the last of the qmc files.
My son is pretending to clean his room.
My hubby is working on the lights.
My son is somewhat pretending to clean his room.
I am washing laundry in between everything.
My son has moved a bit and is now pretending to stare off in space or clean his room. Not sure which.
My hubby is helping me with countdown to Grandpa's visit prep work.
My son is putting on his shoes probably going to go "help"Dad.
I am converting all of the Monogram files for the new sets coming out this week.
My son has now snuck out of the house.
I have three custom tiles to cut and one I've proofed so waiting for feedback.
My son is now back and pretending to eat while he watches tv.
I am thinking through my chrsitmas gift list as I go. I have become fond of clipboards lately to keep me straight in my to do.
My son has layed his head on the table when I aksed how his room is coming.
My hubby wants to go for a horseback ride later when it's warmer outside.
My son will want to go because Mom will have taken over his room with the trashbag and goodwill basket.

Yeah!!! All in a Sundays family work. And this picture is from my D's first reconcilliation. His first real tie. Thank you Nanna!! He loves it. He is so handsome but I might be biased. He very much reminds me of his Dad. Oh I love my life.

Playing games

My son, like many kids, loves to play games. I must admit I like to to. Right after dinner seems to be our easiest time to fit one in. I usually put out a bowl filled with cards and things when we have company over. There are many times a good card game starts up and some play and some watch and many chat. My hubby loves trivia so a few of those cards to are a good brain storm. This last time I put it out I left it on the table. If we sit down to dinner, we seem to clear the table and play a quick game of uno or go fish. (The dishes can wait.) The book is all about card games and the rules for them. This works well when we have a discussion about the rules or if we want a new game to try. I highly recommend a bowl of cards as a table centerpiece. Yes a nice candle is pretty,but no fun unless you are a pyro. But a bowl full of card games really can make life slow down for a moment and make my son smile the biggest smile when he yells UNO!! My hubby's family plays a card game called Nerts. It is a lot of fun, fast paced and tons of folks can play. Have you ever heard of it? What card games do you play? Here is to more fun and playing in the new year and lots of smiles!

Another QMC file

I uploaded another QMC file today that is a subway art. I have cut this file at 7.25 and later today will try cutting it at a 5 inch wide cut. I offered this at a craft fair this weekend and it met with great smiles and great review. I was very pleased with the outcome.

Happy Thanksgiving... Anniversary!

I am a very blessed woman. I live with a man that I love with my whole heart. That I spend as much time with as I possibly can. That I care for deeply and that still gives me butterflies of excitement in my tummy when I know he is on his way home after a long day. Today Thanksgiving Day is an appropriate day for our 10th anniversary. The month of November starts a trend of folks posting their thanks and running that list. I try to live this every day. With thanks for all the time we get to spend together and things we accomplish together. He and I are a team that I love to be a part of as we navigate through and raise our son together. I love him so much. Happy Anniversary to my hubby, to my love, to my friend. – Chris

Apron invite... Qmc file

Here is a really cute invite created by my friend Heidi with my apron invite from the qmc. This file has the words "you're invited" and the apron cut in the file. My friend is throwing a cookie decorating party. However, you could this invite for food parties, cookie swaps, or food drives for your local food bank. How about cute thank you's for that after the dinner party hostess gifts. Or a gift card holder for dinner out. I just can't stop thinking of the ideas. I hope you cut it and enjoy! Have a wonderful pre-thanksgiving evening. I am resting and hoping my cold goes away before tomorrow and tonight my guys make their apple pies. Lots of great sights and smells.

Today is my day on the Card A Day Blog. What a great spot for inspiration. Today’s holiday card is created by Zenita. Zenita used my Joy Love Peace Happiness Christmas Tree for her project. This card works well for a wedding card as well as it can also look like a cake. I love Zenita’s take on this file and its use. Thank you Zenita it is beautiful!! I have another project from Zenita to come so check back and see it soon.

Inside of the Card

A little about the card from Zenita...

The background was done on navy blue polka dot Bazzill. I used Tim Hotz Sizzix Snowflake Embossing folder to make snowflakes on the background paper and then took ColorBox Chalk in Alabaster to lightly go over all the snowflakes. In the middle of the snowflakes I adhered gemstones by the PaperStudios. After cutting Chris's great cutting file I used Ranger Gold Embossing Powder and covered all the file. I then adhered the words onto the blue snowflake background with ATG adehesive.

A little about me. My name is Zenita Smith but most around the crafting world know me as ScrappinwithZ. I've been playing with paper for over 10 years. I became an avid scrapbooker when we began the adoption process of our two youngest sons William and Kyle who are 10 and 9. I'm also the mom to Chris 25 and Jackie 23 and their beautiful wives!! Puff pieces... puffy cheeks

Watching the news for me is a frustrating process. I find myself purposely avoiding it. I don’t like my son to have to listen to it. I often wish there was a “do-gooder” news channel. I would watch it all the time. To see that others are doing something in life to be positive and make a change. I really don’t care that Kardashian’s got married/divorced. I think Mr. Bieber and his baby mama need to figure out their own issues. I am not interested in so many of the personal stories they post. Yes it’s entertainment gossip. Maybe I am one in a million people who just really doesn’t mind not knowing. Maybe it’s because if a politician, charity or something is backed by a popular movie star I question it. But this morning I found myself watching the news as I flipped laundry and prepped for the day and these stories really made me smile and happy.

First an article about a practice that allows you to barter for Doctor visits with “man” hours. Two hours of volunteer time trade in for a doctors appointment. What a wonderful idea. It builds you up as you accomplish a good job and you “earn” vital services you need. Just wonderful! Story

And the next was the new Ford Escape is being introduced here in the U.S. and manufactured in the U.S. Offering 2900 jobs to U.S. citizens in the United States. You won’t have to fly to china to work every day and learn a new language! Woohoo! And if the sales go well they will add another 1200 jobs for a third line . Fantastic! I may be biased. I have three Fords sitting in my front yard. But in all honesty, I would support any business that in this time can add jobs to our economy. (if this info is slightly inaccurate, I apologize. I was just happy to hear about the move to employee our own Americans) Story

And the next was an article about meals being made from Scratch for a school. In watching the food and veggies they displayed in the story, I had to smile. I wonder how many people eat out of a can or a box every single day. Or microwave meals. I chatted recently with a friend who stated that she truly believes that they will find in the future that all the cancers are caused by our highly preserved, genetically modified foods. I believe in simple foods. Yes we have boxes of cereal on the shelf and we have canned goods. But I really try hard to change up that food. I cannot remember the last time we went to McDonalds. When we eat out it is a very picky process. We have a lot of fresh fruit and veggies at home. So when we go out the freeze dried kind just tastes Blah! In any case, I found it an excellent newstory to listen to. And the lady in charge is supporting her local farmers. She is purchasing locally! Excellent. In essence she may be the “lunch lady” but she is stimulating the economy in her area which are probably the families of the children in her school. Excellent! Maybe considered a “puff piece” but you know what I like the puff pieces . it makes my cheeks “puff up” in a smile. ( I can’t find the video, but it is on the early show on cbs early show today. A show I rarely watch but maybe I need to rethink that)

I just wanted to share these few stories because they made me smile. Maybe with the times tough for many this is a sign of our America changing. A bartering system to volunteer for services.. excellent! Jobs in the U.S. instead of overseas… Excellent! Kids eating fruits and veggies instead of a flash frozen burrito…. Excellent! And a lady who is changing lunch but stimulating the economy in her area… excellent! Seems like an upward swing to me.

If you see any positive stories I would love to read them, view them and continue to “puff” up my cheeks.

Retro Post - Believe & QMC - Salt Scrub

I love this project so decided to bring it back for a show for everyone. Dana created this file for me and with plans of photos with Santa I started thinking about all the photos we have with Santa and where are they. This year I need to get a photo album for just the Santa pictures to put in with the holiday decorations. A great time to see how much my little one has grown.

Also I am working on those QMC gift files. Now I have added the Salt Scrub file. If you haven't joined the QMC yet. You can here.

This Salt Scrub is just awesome. My hubby has his "manly" cleaner on the sink and then there is my homemade salt scrub which makes my hands just smooth and awesome and it is almost gone. hmm... apparently it cleans the grease and dirt and paint and more off really good. Woohoo!! And it was an easy frugal gift to put together and I can make it specialized with different Extracts.
This file includes, pdf with directions, print outs for tags in varying colors, cutter files and just a great easy project.

Veteran's Day Weekend.

What a fantastic weekend!!! We did so much so let me show a few pictures. and if I seem proud... well it's because I am. I am so proud of my guys our lives. I love to live it.

First on Friday we participated in the Veteran's Day Parade.

Here he is standing in the back of the truck. We had such a great time. My hubby and I drove the trailer filled with the Scouts and the two of us sat together watching the crowd. There were times when I had tears in my eyes as we watched the Veterans not in the parade stand proud as the flags went by and salute the flag and cheer. Just a real honor to be around so many who have given so much. A real moment of pride to be able to be with such awesome boys in our Pack and the Veterans that were there.

Also, on Saturday, we had a "color guard" activity to do. We raised the flag for a business expo. Then we came home hung out together and had a fire with s'mores with some awesome friends. it was just cool enough for a fire and just warm enough to not be to chilly. When our friends get together and hang out, it is just wonderful. I am surrounded by some phenomenal peoples. Just a great night!

But on Saturday at the Business Expo the Sheriff's and SWAT were there and the officer was so awesome with my son. He got to sit on the Bike, rev the engine, start the lights, start the siren... My son was on a "high" and just beaming from ear to ear. The best!

Thank you Mr. Officer! You made my son so happy!

And on Sunday I got to create a bunch and have started loading them to the QMC in the forum. I will post those over the next days as well.

For now, I must run and get some things together for the rest of the day.

Happy Halloween!!

Here is to hoping your Halloween is awesome today and filled with fun.

Here are a few pictures from our pumpkin patch adventure. We went with some near and dear friends. We spent time in the corn maze. When my son came out he layed on the ground and thanked the Lord above for getting him out. haha. My husband thought he fell til he realized he was saying thank you thank you thank you!!! haha.

Also we play in the corn tubs. Not sure why these are fun, but they are filled with kids and are just the happiest thing. My son can't wait to get into them every year. I keep thinking. Horse Feed, Pigs Feed, Cow Feed when I look at the dried corn, but hey who am I to judge. Everyone finds their good time and enjoyment and if it's animal feed and jumping in without your shoes on. So be it! Good Times Commence.

My cild might be exhausted or is blocking the way from Ms. Pretty jumping in again. He didn't understand why she couldn't jump in the empty tank. haha. This is training for later in life.

He is super happy grins here. Yes his hat is CSI stolen from Mom. His John Deere hats, Carhart and Caterpillar hats are beat to a pulp. Time to buy some new ones.

She is getting ready to jump in! So fun!

Then I got to looking and it looks like we caught Ms. Pretty in the act bewitching with her beautiful smile all the while putting up the dreaded bunny fingers. hahah. again training for later in life for my kiddo. haha.

Santa Card by Kelly S.

Today is my day to be on the Card a Day Blog. So I am posting a holiday card for you to enjoy. I recently put out a call for any one who wanted to help me with a special project and that was Holiday Cards. I was not disappointed at all. I was very excited as all the Holiday Cards kept coming in and the requests to join the SPCT. Thank you to everyone who applied!

I chose this holiday card as they were made for me by Kelly. Kelly is going through a rough lot in life as she has just recently lost her husband. She has a young son. and the two of them are on their way in life surrounded by family and friends and all of us on the VDBC forum as we cheer her on whenever she can craft or come by the forum to "see us". Such a quick loss and at a young age is so devastating and I know we are all saying prayers for her. (If you have any kind words to send her, I am quite sure she could use them. I know we crafters are a supportive bunch!)
Kelly whipped up this card and many more for me when I put out the Special Projects CT request. and here they are. Just beautiful!!! Thank you Kelly!!!!!! I post them with honor and gratitude! Also, I am in awe of Kelly's strength and courage to tackle life and continue forward. We are thinking of you every day! May love and memories surround her and keep her warm.

I have lots of holiday cards to share. So come back and see the inspiration over the next two months! Just beautiful.

Here are Kelly's notes on her card she created.

Santa Claus Card

This card features 2 files from Chris, Milk & Cookies Santa (CD00381) and Better Watch Out (CDStamp001). For the background I used a piece of printed vellum I found at my local dollar store on top of a piece of green cardstock. The 2 layers are attached using snowflake and tree brads. I added Glossy Accents to Santa's boots and Sparkly Fluff to the hat and mitten cuffs. I added pen stitching around Santa's body and drew in a belt for him. I used 2 blue gems for him eyes. The digital stamp was printed out on plain white paper and then I added 2 layers of glittery clear embossing powder. It didn't photograph as well as I hoped, but it looks really cool in person.

Man Craft - Red Baron

So a few weekends ago I came out to the living room after a leisurely wake up. My son and hubby were on the couch and heard this below...

and then I got to listen to this song quiet a bit (the next day to)

And then we got to watch the real red baron version. Maybe not hisotrically correct but the version without the dog and the cartoon effects.
So it was over and they went about their day in their plans for building and working on things around the house which we love to do on the weekends.

Then I saw a smiling kid walk through with pvc pipe and then I heard spray paint can outside the window. I started mentally ticking off things that were on the list of to do's for the day. I couldn't remember what needed spray painted hmmm... on I went to do the dishes.

A smiling little boy and his Dad came in the house to show me. Yes the "Red Baron" gun fashioned in case of need and attached to the fort. Upcycled into a Man Craft from pvc pipe, plastic little kid gulf clubs, black spray paint and some bolts and glue. Love my husband Love my kid. Love my life. (Pictures below)

Lego Pinata Guy

As many may know now that you have seen the Team KNK post a week or so ago. I am a Lego Robotics Mom. and this year I am a Lego Robotics Assistant Coach. We work on alot of fundraising efforts because those little Lego motors can be expensive and other costs build. Our Lego-ers spend alot of time building with Legos and talking about Simple Machines. and figuring out how to make them function. just awesome to see them grow with it. And prepare for competitions. My son is in the younger version of it after 3rd grade if he sticks with it. He will move into a more technical version.

This is my latest cutter endeavor for a commitment my sweet smiling child got me into. haha.

We have this Lego Pinata guy from a rainy birthday Party last year. So now he has become part of the Lego Club scene. He showcases us well in his stiff armed weird smile manner. Thank you to Tio Ramon for bringing this for the birthday party. Who knew it would morph into such an awesome use when it rained and we were upset we couldn't smack the candy out of him. And wow that would have been a Ton Ton of Candy. In retrospect I am kinda glad it rained because Lego Guy has become a mascot for the Lego Club of sorts. He definitely stands out in a crowd. He doesn't travel well in the car. He stands about 4 ft tall and does not bend.

Do you know what an eegee is? Here in the desert it is a local business that sells ice drinks that are like slushies but not. They don't have air pumped into them or weird syrupy flavors. They don't get twisted and turned all day in a tumbler of slushy. But are packed into freezers and scooped into your drink. Those from Tucson would know what I am talking about. Those who don't will think I am crazy. Those who have left town will start craving one. There are many branches around town and they are yum. The standard flavors are pina colada, strawberry, lemon and flavor of the month. just yum!

New 2U Challenge

If you have been in the forum at all this month, and I really hope you have. There is a challenge called New 2U. You can visit it here.

What does this mean? Try something new. Well my new this weekend was to go to the Copic Marker Retreat by Jen. Some of you may know her as “Jen the hacker”. However, I know her as “Jen who sat next to me at the KNK Retreat”. Phenomenal artist and super fun person to talk with and chat with. I bought a bunch of markers to go to this retreat. It just didn’t work out for me, but I still have the markers. So I printed an image form a copic marker challenge posted not to long ago. And sat down to play. First time to color with the Copics. Very nice markers for sure. My son sat next to me. We were on school break. He watched me color the first one. And then the second one. And he took an extra copy and started coloring with Sharpies. He was very upset the colors didn’t match the cap when he actually colored with his Sharpies and Bic Mark-Its. However, I told him to just go with it and enjoy it. So he did. He enjoyed it so much that when he was done. He went and got the pink gluearts gun (which he says is embarrassing with an eye roll because it’s pink but he uses it all the time. haha) and glued it to the pink piece of paper you see in the picture. He had a great time and as did I. Not bad for the first try I thought. Could definitely have been worse. I love my sons and I love the time sitting in my studio at the desk just coloring. The best. Love my Life.

It is Friday and I must run lots to accomplish as this weekend and almost everyone through January are jam packed. It is definitely that time of year. So I am off to get a moving on. Don’t forget to try something new and post in the New 2U challenge. So much fun to try something new.

Fantastic Celebration! new QMC file

Wow what a fantastic weekend. I am still trying to cleanup and get through everything after our awesome party and so much fun. I want to say thank you to everyone for supporting us throughout the year and also participating in the Celebration with us. We had so much fun and the pace in the forum was quick and fun. Lots of fun.

Starting Visual Designs by Chris was a huge decision and has been a joy to work on every day. Thank You for supporting me. It helps me to support my family. And for that I could not give you enough words of appreciation. All the friendships I have made throughout the years of have brightened my days.

Thank you soo much!

QMC members… If you are a QMC Member I have loaded another file to the QMC today. It is a blessing book. I hope you enjoy it and can put it to good use. I have a few friends I plan to make these for. Even tho’ life is crazy and has a lot of bumps in it, every day has a few blessings in it and it is good to remind ourselves about it daily. So I am making a few of these as gifts for the holidays. I hope you can find a use for it.

"the Gift" QMC file & Anniversary Celebration Days

Recipe, diecut, photo. lots of fun. And we are already hopping in the forum as Challenges are starting to load for our Anniversary Celebration day! Jump on in.

The Gift QMC is in the forum and the next file uploaded was this file for a clothespin picture board. An easy way to switch out new photos and I also included the title for God-children. so fun.

I had this wooden plaque in my stash and some mini clothespins. So I cut the vinyl. Added some rubons and glued the clothespins on with monkey glue. I love this stuff. However, I looked away to chat with my helper this week while school was on break and woops. To much monkey glue. The clothespin slid off and glued itself to the counter. I turned around and couldn't figure out what happened to the clothespin. Only to find it glued to the counter top. Great conversation piece? I pondered it for a bit and giggled while I did my best to pry it off the counter. Yes, be careful with the monkey glue. It works!

On to life...
This past weekend, I got to spend some wonderful time with my hubby and son.We enjoyed our day of watching horses and then hit the rodeo. A hometown rodeo with lots of fun. We spend alot of time in the little town and know the kids that run around. My son got a chance to sit and BS with the "guys" his age. They were yacking and yammering about mutton busting and "this one time...." The stories were quite cute. To get a visual you have to imagine they are all in about the second grade so all of them are short a tooth or two or more. If you stand and listen to some in rodeo, there are always a few digits missing off the ropers, a few teeth off the rough stock riders a little something here and there missing. As my hubby and I stood with our son a few feet away in his group of "guys" and just a few gals because they can mutton bust to at that age. As I sat and watched I had to giggle, the scene was so reminiscent of a group of grown men BS-ing. It just made me smile from my heart. I leaned back against my hubby and he wrapped his arms around me and we watched the rodeo. Love my life. Cherish every moment.

3D Pumpkin from October Grab Bag

Yesterday, I posted on my facebook page about a coupon from Bic Mark-It. I use these pens all the time. I have a little tin pail of them. My son loves them as well. I use them in the Scout meetings. I will post one of those pics soon.

I used the Bic Mark-It pens on this 3d pumpkin from the October Grab Bag. I wanted a 3-d pumpkin to use for some decorating and I wanted a 3-d one to put in the middle of a card for my Dad. Here is a photo of the 3-d version I made into a table place holder with a toothpick and name and pen on it. And I mentioned the Bic Mark-It pens because I used them to color the edges of the popcorn after glueing to cover any white spots. Also the orange was just a little darker after coloring which give each pumpkin cut a nice trim. There are instructions inside the file on how to create this 3-d pumpkin. And also a fall leaf mat for any project you might have. If you create one of these I would love to see it in the October Grab Bag Challenge in the forum.

Welcome to Monday! Thank you to everyone who has joined the QMC . I have entitled this one "the gift" as I am focusing on gifts we can make for the holidays. So the files will have those intentions. An already loaded file is this Roadway Monogram which I have posted about previously on my blog and decided to add it to the QMC. the full alphabet. I made each letter individually for this set and I hope you like! You can join the QMC here to start out with this file!

Also, I am a designer for this month's grab bag.

Here are one of my files for the grab bag...

This is what I needed the orange glitter for. The one above has a battery operated tea light inside. and below it doesn't. This is my Mason Jar love post. I love Mason Jars. I have them everywhere. These ones are old and from a box of craft supplies my Mom gave me.

So for the orange glitter jar. I took the premise of the glitter ornaments from a few years ago that were made with glitter and added it to a jar. So first I took the Pledge with future shine and put a squirt or two in the jar. Swirled it around so the whole inside gleamed with this liquid. I then took the glitter and dumped some in and put the lid on ::key step:: lid on. haha. Now shake it like crazy until you get the coating you want then I let it sit open to dry for a day and overnight. Then dumped the lose glitter out. In retrospect I might not use so much glitter so the battery operated tea light would glow better. I personally would not put a candle in this. yikes! But the Pledge future shine dries well because it has an acrylic finish. I have read in other places folks have done the same thing with diamond glaze. If you are interested in the two images for your halloween projects. One is a spider web and spider and the other is a cat, tree and moon scene which you can use as you'd like.

So thank you to everyone who helped me with the Orange Glitter search. I now have extra for anything else glittery I can think of! Yeah! Hope you like the file. It is now in the grab bag which you can purchase here along with a bunch of others. And Lori's first week bonus file!

Now for my card and more....

I wanted to share with you a file from my new QMC loaded to the store. He is a floating Santa. So cute.
I have this file to Caz as a special projects for holiday cards and she outdid herself by opening up the digital file and instead of cutting it she created a digital card first and then she cut the card afterwards and did a traditional one as well. How fantastic!!!

Here are the Cards from Caz and I will post some more info on them next week.

Down the WoodFairy's Path

I have an Aunt whose nickname is the Woodfairy. She spins these light and airy tales of magic and happiness. Reading them just makes me smile. It lightens my mood. I have even copied one or two in my "read it again folder" on my computer. Recently, she posted a where was she in life post. Was this what she had done in life comment. That self review type thing. I told her I thought she should capture these woodfairy posts and put them in a children's book, if only for her grandchidren and their future children. Then a few days later she posted a picture and I played with it. and put my own spin on it. I do believe I could hear her happiness from her mountain to my home in Arizona. She loved the photo. I hope one day she captures her whimsy or lets someone capture it for her to save and collect and cherish. So that is the thought behind these two pictures. And if you are reading this Aunt Elise. I love you and your happy posts .... my heart beam.

Chalkboard Paint Wine Glasses

Trying something new...

I have seen these glasses all around the net. They make me think of our family Thanksgiving and the never ending question. Is this your glass? Is this your glass? I am not sure where I left my glass? Is this it? My hubby is connossiuer of wine. One of his many wonderful traits. love it. I, myself, am not really a wine partaker. however, I have been to a few wine tastings it blows my mind when the food changes the flavor of the wine. But for the most part I am not a partaker. So I grabbed some chalk board paint and had a box of extra wine glasses in the storage from a gift. So I grabbed them, taped them off and spray painted. I went and bought some chalk and done. So super easy and if I added a ribbon to each just in a bow they would be a great and easy addition to our Thanksgiving party. Just need chalk to get your name on your glass and not have to remember which Wine glass ring was yours or did you switch from red to white because someone mentioned how red your teeth/lips were. haha.

Oh and do you like the Spider Goblets? my hubby got them for decoration. I used them as a prop. My friend Heidi is probably rolling her eyes about now. haha. But a white poster board pretend light box and I needed something to spice it up. (I am in Halloween and Fall mode working on some grab bage files. woohoo)

As usual I found this idea on the web and I started with where I found it and went from post to post to post bouncing and bouncing to find an original and couldn't so I was inspired and here is my take on them. Thank you out there to the inspirational people out there.

And I think I am addicted to Chalkboard Paint!!! I have been spraying surfaces oh sooooo fun!! So I am sure there will be more ideas to come.
